Áfanginn miðast við þarfir þeirra sem hafa nokkuð góða undirstöðu í tungumálinu. Fjallað er um þætti sem tengjast daglegu lífi og þörfum fjölskyldu. Áhersla er lögð á að efla orðskilning nemenda tengdan ýmsum störfum, samskiptum á vinnustað, atvinnuumsóknum, atvinnuviðtölum og launaseðlum. Áfram er lögð áhersla á íslenskt samfélag og fjölmiðla með það fyrir augum að auka færni nemenda í tungumálinu og efla sjálfstraust þeirra og samfélagslega vitund. Fjallað um mannleg samskipti, virðingu og umgengni. Íslensk landafræði lítillega kynnt og nemendur segja frá reynslu sinni af ferðalögum um Ísland og önnur lönd. Fjölbreyttum kennsluaðferðum í tungumálakennslu beitt. Þjálfun í ritfærni eykst. Leitast er við að gera verkefnin þannig úr garði að þau reyni á hæfni nemandans við raunverulegar aðstæður og þjálfi nemandann í að geta haldið uppi samræðum og gert sig sem best skiljanlega á íslensku.

The phase is aimed at the needs of those who have a fairly good foundation in the language. It discusses aspects related to daily life and family needs. Emphasis is placed on enhancing students’ comprehension of words related to various jobs, workplace interactions, job applications, job interviews and pay slips. Emphasis continues to be placed on Icelandic society and the media with the aim of increasing students’ language skills and strengthening their self-confidence and social awareness. Human relations, respect and social interaction are discussed. Icelandic geography is briefly introduced and students talk about their experiences of traveling around Iceland and other countries. A variety of teaching methods are used in language teaching. Training in writing skills is increased. Efforts are made to design the projects in such a way that they test the student’s skills in real-life situations and train the student to be able to hold conversations and make themselves as understandable as possible in Icelandic.
